Going to one’s limits, pushing new boundaries in performance, and living the adrenaline of overcoming challenges, all in the glory of the open sea – the modern heroes of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team are the ultimate embodiment of Panerai’s values.
Their pursuit has led to the introduction of new timepieces to the Luna Rossa collection inspired by the technical innovation and the majestic beauty of the yachting world. Interpreting the values and boldness of the sporting world in a lifestyle key, the new timepieces feature novel creatives inspired by Luna Rossa’s boat materials and aesthetic codes with a diverse appeal for all genders.
Panerai CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué says, “Our collaboration with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team represents the perfect union of two brands that share the same spirit of innovation, passion for excellence, and love for the sea. Through our common values, we aim to inspire and empower contemporary navigators, pushing boundaries and exceeding limits in pursuit of their dreams.”
Blue like the sea, and red as the official shade of Luna Rossa; the collection is designated in these color codes. Luminor Luna Rossa Quaranta PAM01408 cuts a sleek impression with its black 40mm Steel DLC (diamond-like carbon) case and a blue sun-brushed dial that features the date at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Powered by the automatic P.900 calibre with a three-day power reserve, its 40mm case size is a perfect fit for all- around wear.
For the traveller, the Luminor Luna Rossa Quaranta BiTempo PAM01404 delivers with its automatic P.900/GMT calibre with a three-day power reserve. Displaying two time zones, the tip of the GMT hand is gilded in red in tribute to the color of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team’s boat sail. The watch is set in a 40mm steel case and features a blue sun- brushed dial.
To bring a slice of the sailing adventure to its clients, Panerai also introduces Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono Carbotech PAM01519, an Experience edition that will allow owners of the timepiece to partake in an immersion experience specifically curated by the Maison. Set in a 44mm Carbotech case with a blue sun-brushed dial, the watch will season over time according to wear, creating a specific look to the wearer’s surroundings.
The structure of Carbotech is designed to enhance both the aesthetics and the performance of the material where thin sheets of carbon fibers are compressed at a controlled temperature under high pressure together with a high-end polymer, PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), which binds the composite material, making it stronger and more durable. In homage to the sailing experience, the Luminor Luna Rossa Chrono also features the Speed Tachymeter Scale, to measure the average speed of the yacht over a defined distance.
All three models feature a bi-material strap with a strip that bears the emblematic ‘Luna Rossa’ logo. The PAM01408 and PAM01404 are equipped with the PAM Click Release System, the straps can be easily swapped to create looks for different moods and styles. The timepieces are boutique exclusives.
Additions to the Luminor Due collection are two references, PAM01378 and PAM01381. PAM01378 is set in a polished 38mm steel case matched with a white Saffiano leather strap that bears the team’s name and red stripe logo while PAM01381 is set in a polished 42mm steel case matched with a grey bi-material strap.
Both timepieces have matte white sandwich dials that features the Panerai logo with the inscription Luna Rossa with numerals and indices in dark gray Super-LumiNova®. The small seconds come with red hands in an ode to the team’s official color while the overall neutral tone of the timepieces makes them highly legible. Powered by the automatic P.900 calibre with a three-day power reserve, the straps are interchangeable with others from Panerai’s range of strap collections. The watches are all boutique exclusives.
The new references strengthen the multi-year partnership between Panerai and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, expounding on Panerai’s DNA in forging a portfolio of remarkable watches with a particular focus on instruments for aquatic adventures characterize by passion-driven research for advancement.
