Zenith’s 2024 Watches and Wonders Novelties
This year, Zenith introduced three entirely new models, diverging from the common trend of merely updating existing collections with new colors or materials. Notably, all three belong to the Defy collection, which is Zenith’s lineup of sports watches with integrated bracelets. Keep reading below to learn more about the releases coming soon to Shiva’s!
Defy Skyline Chronograph
Introduced in 2021, the Defy Skyline is an important collection within Zenith’s contemporary Defy series. This year, the brand has unveiled a trio of Defy Skyline Chronographs designed to captivate fans who appreciate the seamless blend of vintage influences and the ultra-modern design language of the collection.
Offered in metallic black, blue, or silver – each is embellished with the signature four-pointed stars engraving, creating a starry sky pattern. The Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph comes with a stainless steel bracelet complemented by a star-patterned rubber strap featuring a steel folding buckle. With their hallmark quick strap-change mechanism, a simple button push allows allows for effortless versatility without needing any tools.
The new Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph boasts a faceted, octagonal 42mm stainless steel case with a transparent caseback offering a glimpse into the intricate El Primero calibre 3600 mechanics within.
Defy Revival A3648
Following in the footsteps of the 300m water-resistant time-and-date Zenith Defy Revival A3642 and the A3690 and A3691 Revival models, Zenith applies its revival treatment to the even beefier A3648. Faithful to the original 1969 Defy A3648, the surprising thing about this revival model is that it has a more compact 37mm diameter than the original coupled with a thickness of 15.5mm and the 600m water-resistance of its ancestor.
The original color scheme is intact, and the unidirectional rotating bezel has an orange-tinted sapphire crystal insert with black markings. Orange was chosen for the original Defy Plongeur for its superior visibility during a dive.
The caseback reveals Zenith Elite 670 automatic calibre with central seconds and date. Developed in the 1990s, the movement beats at 28,800VpH and delivers 50 hours of power reserve.
Defy Extreme Diver
The new Defy Extreme Diver has a lot about it that’s unusual for a dive watch. Inside the 42.5mm by 15.5mm brushed titanium case beats El Primero 3620-SC automatic high-frequency manufacture calibre, running at 36,000 VpH, with 60 hours power reserve. That movement is also visible through a sapphire display back, something you rarely, if ever, see on a dive watch, let alone one that’s rated to such extreme depths. The watch has big, bold, skeletonized hands with orange accents and large hour markers with SuperLuminova X1 lume.
The watch comes in either a blue and orange or black and orange motif, with a ceramic unidirectional bezel that matches the color of the starry sky pattern on the dial. It also has an interchangeable strap system and comes with three straps: one in rubber- matching the dial – with a folding buckle, another color matched fabric strap with a pin buckle, and finally, a metal bracelet with a folding clasp.
